Science enables us to understand the principles of life — what we call life science. But knowing the principles is not the same as truly understanding life. While science explains the mechanisms of life, disciplines like art, philosophy, and the humanities seek to uncover its meaning. When these perspectives come together, the phenomena of life become culture — a collective exploration that bridges scientific and humanistic understandings.
ODC is a global platform dedicated to this comprehensive exploration of life in all its dimensions. We believe that understanding life requires more than scientific inquiry alone — it demands exploration through art, design, philosophy, and the humanities. The complexity and depth of life cannot be fully grasped through any single discipline.
What began in 2018 as a symposium hosted by Organoid Sciences in Korea has evolved into a global platform uniting over 1,000 institutions worldwide, built on shared vision and mutual trust among participants.
Today, ODC serves not only as a forum for sharing academic and industrial advances in biotechnology, but as a cultural hub that fosters deep understanding and reverence for all forms of life. ****Global pioneers from around the world engage in boundary-crossing dialogues, challenge existing paradigms, and introduce new questions and perspectives. Together, we create a space for contemplating the values and directions that scientific progress should embrace.
ODC’s doors are open to pioneers from any field who wish to contribute to a better world – whether they are bio researchers, specialists, or simply individuals driven by curiosity and purpose.
Beginning as a small symposium on organoids, a human long-term simulation, ODC is now moving beyond the academic and industrial achievements of biotechnology to a cultural convergence where we share a deep understanding and expansion of all living things.
‘Science of life’ and ‘Experience’ broaden each other’s boundaries, and the meanings of ‘culture’ and ‘Cultures(cell culture)’ shine on each other.
From cultures to culture, from culture to cultures. Science is no longer an isolated area.
Scientific and cultural cultivation practices repeat expansion and contraction according to each other’s rhythms, creating new forms of life and possibilities.
